A 42-year-old Logan drug-addict who tried to convince his 17-year-old daughter that “father and daughter sex was the best sex anyone could have” was sentenced to two years of probation at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was high on illicit substances when he sent a series of “grossly offensive” messages to his daughter, with whom he’d had limited contact with since separating with her mother more than 10 years prior.

The police prosecutor read the worst of the text messages to the court, which began on October 20, 2019 with offers of a full body massage and “pampering”.

The man appeared at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

From there, the messages devolved into an offer to demonstrate “how the bird and the bees work” and “how to be a good girl for daddy”.

“It will be that good you won’t want to stop,” the messages read.

“I want to massage and touch you sensually and you won’t want me to stop, I know it.

“Father and daughter sex is the best sex anyone can have.”

The man made several attempts to ascertain the location of the complainant, who continuously rebuked him.

The child reported the messages to the Gatton police station on November 2.

The man was picked up during a routine traffic stop at Logan Central on December 13 when he was charged with using a carriage service, namely a phone, to send messages reasonably considered to be menacing, harassing or offensive.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and his lawyer told the court he “didn’t recall sending the messages” because he was under the influence of heavy drugs at the time.

“It’s not the sort of person he is,” the lawyer said.

“He would not have intended to follow through with it.”

The Magistrate told the defendant his actions were serious and caused his daughter significant suffering.

The man was sentenced to a $3000 good behaviour bond, through which he will be required to be on probation for two years.

Convictions were recorded.
