A 20-year-old bakery worker has been remembered by his family and friends as “loving” and “cheeky” after he was killed in a horrific car crash at the weekend.
Tobin Schefe, of Boonah, died after he was involved in a single car crash on Wimmers Hill Rd, Milford Saturday night, February 11.
Mr Schefe, the driver, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
A 14-year-old boy, a passenger in the car, was flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
An 18-year-old Cannon Creek man and another 14-year-old boy, were taken to Ipswich Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is understood the three passengers were friends of Mr Schefe.
The Schefe family took to social media to share a heartfelt tribute to the man, who was the youngest of seven siblings.
Ami Louisa Schefe, his older sister, said they were heartbroken.
“It’s with a breaking heart that I post to let you know that this weekend our family suffered a horrific tragedy … the loss of our youngest brother, youngest son, Tobin,” she said.
“There were other young men and boys with him in the car, and are being treated for their injuries, our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families too at this time. The exact circumstances have not yet been released.
“Tobin was the clown of the family, always smiling, and even when he wasn’t, he was – just look at this picture. Mature for his age, loving, cheeky, … making plans.
“A life cut short, but we have to rely on our faith that God is still in control and he is still good.
“And we rely on our faith as a family to carry us through this week and the weeks to come.”
It has been confirmed Mr Schefe worked at Boonah bakery Sugar Loaf.
Colleague Jess Jurd told Quest News she would miss him dearly.
“I knew Tobin well I worked with him for years and grew a great friendship,” she said.
“He was one of a kind.
“Such a kind hearted person and would do anything for anyone. He will be dearly missed by so many.”
Other loved ones have also shared in the family’s grief.
“So, so sorry for your loss. Praying for you all and everyone involved during this really sad time. Tobin was a lovely young man and a great friend to our son,” said Nikki Twite.
