A LOGAN man’s strange marijuana habit has been revealed in court today, as the well-dressed defendant pleaded guilty to four drug offences resulting from a search warrant on the Logan Village home he shares with his wife and one of their children.
On March 26 this year, police arrived at the home of full-time printer Edward James Cameron, 45 only to find no one home. They called Cameron, who said he was at work and would return.

However, while this conversation was happening, Cameron’s wife came home, let the police in and told them she knew her husband smoked but didn’t know where he kept it.
Police discovered a big black bucket inside the home, which contained 183g of marijuana – a “very, very significant amount”, his lawyer Alex Weddell conceded – digital scales and $140 cash in a separate bag.
When Cameron arrived home, he confessed to police there was a bong located under the hood of his barbecue and he had last smoked two days earlier.
Mr Weddell said his client had a very particular “accounting system” to keep track of his habit.
Cameron would carefully weigh out his buds from the bucket, retrieve his bong from the barbecue and “pay” for the drugs he had taken from the stash, hence the $140 in the bucket.
Mr Weddell also noted his client would never usually have that amount of marijuana, but had stocked up from his dealer to ride out the COVID-19 shutdown.
It was accepted there was no aspect of commerciality.
The court heard Cameron had previous drug convictions among a “very serious” criminal history.
Cameron pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana, a bong, digital scales and possessing a relevant thing to a drug crime (cash).
He was fined $1000 and had the drug items and cash seized. Convictions were recorded.
