POLICE from a station on Brisbane’s southside are on the hunt for two young men wanted in suspicion of a daring pre-dawn armed robbery which saw them brandish a knife at a woman on her way to work and take off in her car.

Inala police say last Thursday at about 4.50am, a 54-year-old female arrived to work at Inala Plaza when she was approached by two young males as she was getting out of her car.

“One of these males produced a small knife and the victim attempted to run away from them. The two offenders then got into the victim’s Toyota Camry sedan and located her handbag containing her car keys and drove away,” Station OIC Snr Sgt Craig McKenzie said.

The vehicle was located later that morning at Bellatrix St, Inala.

Snr Sgt McKenzie said the first offender was described as appearing about 15 years old, “short and fat” with a fair complexion, while the second offender was described as appearing about 20 years old with a dark complexion, slim build and about 175cm tall.

Inala police also snagged a high-range drink driver in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“At approximately 4.50am, police were travelling west bound in a marked police vehicle on the Logan Motorway at Heathwood when they were overtaken by a Mini Cooper travelling at an excessive rate of speed,” Snr Sgt McKenzie said.

They caught up with the vehicle and charged a 39-year-old Springfield Lakes man with driving UIL (high-range drink driving) after he returned a reading of 0.153 per cent BAC. He was also charged with speeding offences.

He will appear before the Richlands Magistrates Court on July 21.
