IT’S the last thing you want to see when you check under the covers before bed: an uninvited slithery house guest.
This snake was found by a man and his two young daughters at Cedar Creek, north of Brisbane, after they had been lying on the bed reading a book.

Brisbane North Snake Catchers and Relocation owner Steven Brown, who removed the reptile for the family, said it was the first time he had heard of one seeking refuge in a bed.
“I have heaps of friends who have never come across that,” Mr Brown said.
“The father was lying on the bed with the girls, and when they got up and moved the doona down the father spotted it.
“He lifted the blanket, seen it, and put it straight back down again.”
“Luckily it was only a young coastal carpet python.”
Mr Brown relocated the snake to the family’s garden.
He said he was also called by Moreton Bay Regional Council today to catch another carpet python that had wrapped around a public toilet at Leis Park in Lawnton, and to remove yet another that had found a cosy spot in the rafters of an outdoor entertaining area at a home in Bald Hills.
