A Brisbane gym that has just celebrated its first birthday has remarkably been voted the city’s best gym, with plans to expand across the southeast.

A huge three-storey gym with a wellness retreat and top-class equipment has been voted the top gym in Brisbane.
Strand Fitness Southside in Algester has been crowned Brisbane’s best gym after voting by Courier Mail readers.
Strand Fitness Southside smashed the competition and received more than double the votes of rival gyms in our poll.
Staff at the whopping 3,700 square metre gym celebrated its first birthday on June 21, after previoulsy being a powerhouse brand in the Townsville fitness scene for more than 15 years.
Owner Dean Bodle said it was an incredible feeling to be voted Brisbane’s best gym.
“Over the past 12 months, we’ve poured our hearts into building more than just a gym — we’ve created a thriving health, fitness, and wellness destination that people genuinely love being part of,” Mr Bodle said.
“We’ve invested big, created jobs, opened doors to new opportunities, and built a community that lifts each other up.
“To be voted Brisbane’s Best Gym is proof that it’s all been worth it — and the best part? We’re only just getting started.”
The Algester gym is spread across three levels with dedicated training zones for each style including strength, cardio, functional, group fitness, and reformer pilates.
Mr Bodle said members enjoy using world-class equipment from Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, Technogym, and Aussie legends like AlphaFit and Citadel.
