Police prosecutor Zoe Melksham told the court about 10.10pm on Thursday night at an apartment complex at Short St, Jimboomba, a resident heard noises in her home and then the sound of her vehicle being driven away.
The vehicle, which had had its registration plates changed, was next sighted at Brisbane St, Jimboomba, about 3.30am on Sunday morning by patrolling officers.
The vehicle was discovered abandoned a short while later at Ingram St, at which point the dog squad was engaged, tracking Robertson and her underage co-offenders to a nearby back yard.
They discovered the keys from the stolen vehicle discarded nearby.
The court heard this was the fourth time this year Robertson has been sentenced for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, having pleaded guilty in April, May and August to the offence.
It was submitted on Robertson’s behalf that she was only a passenger in the stolen vehicle and had “foolishly” accepted a lift from her friends despite the fact she ought to have known the vehicle was stolen.
This was accepted by the court.
Robertson pleaded guilty to the single charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
She was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment.
She is eligible for parole, meaning she will have to make her case to Parole Board Queensland if she is to see freedom before her nine months are up.
