On Friday, May 10 myself and a group of adventurous Brisbane locals (including our very own Lord Mayor Cr Adrian Schrinner) will be taking part in Australia’s most thrilling fundraiser and swinging off the Goodwill Bridge to raise much-needed funds for young Queenslanders with hearing impairment.
Some think it may be a courageous act, but I couldn’t think of a better way to show my gratitude to Hear and Say and assist them with their mission to give local kids with hearing loss the opportunity to listen, learn and speak and be granted the same opportunities in life as their abled hearing peers.

Fundraisers like this are so crucial for charities like Hear and Say, given they need to raise $10,000 each year per child to fill the funding gap, enabling children with hearing loss to listen and speak.
Hear and Say is particularly close to my own heart as my four-year-old and youngest son Archer was born profoundly deaf.
I have had the privilege to witness first-hand the incredible work they do for young Queenslanders with hearing loss, like Archie, and the wonderful support they have provided our family on his hearing journey thus far.
He truly is our little miracle.

I’m very excited to share that thanks to my friends, family, clients and colleagues at Electronic Living in Virginia.
I’ve already smashed my fundraising goal of $1000 and raised $2276 (and counting).
Most of my fundraising has been through the Goodwill Bridge Swing My Cause website.
Hear and Say on a whole is aiming to raise a massive $150,000 and though, as a team, we have quite a way to go, I’m confident that once people hear about this thrilling fundraiser and the amazing work Hear and Say does for Queensland families they too will be jumping at the chance to help.
