Sunshine Coast’s fastest growing schools revealed for 2023

An analysis of federal government data has revealed every Sunshine Coast region school’s student enrolment trajectory over the past five years - exposing where student numbers have risen and declined the most.

Baringa State Primary School in Baringa, in Caloundra South, is Sunshine Coast’s fastest growing school, with enrolments increasing by 204 per cent in the five years from 2018 to 2022.

The second fastest growing school was My Independent School in Beerwah with a 107 per cent change while Peregian Beach College in Peregian Beach recorded the third biggest change with a 94 per cent increase.

Meanwhile, the analysis also highlighted the Sunshine Coast region’s schools in decline with Kenilworth State Community College in Kenilworth recording a 34 per cent drop over five years.

Beerwah State School in Beerwah was the second school going backwards for enrolment with a 34 per cent drop and Mapleton State School in Mapleton was the third with a 28 per cent decline.

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority figures are the most up to date enrolment numbers that include all state and private schools nationally.

My Independent School: 107 per cent

Peregian Beach College: 94 per cent

Montessori Noosa: 40 per cent

Coolum State High School: 30 per cent

Caloundra Christian College: 30 per cent

Glenview State School: 29 per cent

Blackall Range Independent School: 26 per cent

Noosa Christian College: 25 per cent

Peachester State School: 24 per cent

Schools in decline 2018-2022:

Kenilworth State Community College: 34 per cent

Beerwah State School: 34 per cent

Mapleton State School: 28 per cent

Conondale State School: 28 per cent

Caloundra City Private School: 24 per cent

Beerburrum State School: 22 per cent

Meridan State College: 20 per cent

Palmwoods State School: 20 per cent

St Thomas More Primary School: 19 per cent

Eudlo State School: 19 per cent
