Most improved Gympie NAPLAN schools revealed in last 5 years

An independent analysis of NAPLAN results has revealed the Gympie schools with the biggest improvements in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests, and those going backwards.

Glenwood State School in Glenwood recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 6.96 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Gympie East State School at Greens Creek was the second best with an increase of 6.29 per cent followed by Two Mile State School at Two Mile with an increase of 6.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, Gympie State High School in Gympie recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 0.83 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Mary Valley State College at Imbil was the second best with a 0.32 per cent increase followed by Cooloola Christian College at Gympie with a change of -0.55 per cent.

The analysis compared the five year change in NAPLAN results from 2017 and 2021 and revealed the schools which have improved their Year 5 and Year 9 student scores the most.

It was calculated by each school’s combined results for each NAPLAN subject in 2017 and compared to the same results in 2021.

Meanwhile, Kin Kin State School in Kin Kin recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -8.22 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

While, James Nash State High School in Gympie recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -6.51 per cent over the past five years.

Gympie East State School: 6.29 per cent

Two Mile State School: 6.2 per cent

Monkland State School: 5.13 per cent

Mary Valley State College: 4.51 per cent

Gympie State High School: 0.83 per cent

Mary Valley State College: 0.32 per cent

Cooloola Christian College: -0.55 per cent

St Patrick‘s College: -1.9 per cent

Victory College: -2.4 per cent
