An independent analysis of newly-released 2022 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.
Caboolture Montessori School had better primary results than any other school in Moreton, scoring an average of 538.8 across the five test subjects.
All Saints Primary School in Albany Creek was the second best for the region with an average score of 527.0, while The Lakes College in North Lakes was the third best with an average score of 525.0.
The top performing secondary school was The Lakes College, in North Lakes, with the average result was 603.6.
Carmichael College in Morayfield was the second best for the region with an average score of 602.4, while Genesis Christian College in Bray Park was the third best with an average score of 601.6.
“At The Lakes College, we believe in growing learners focused on achieving their personal best,’’ principal Nicole Gregory said.
“Our view is one of excellence over perfection so, like an athlete, our learners are encouraged to reach for their personal best inside and outside of the classroom.
“While some schools ‘bolt-on’ NAPLAN preparation for their students, we build it into the curriculum and teaching and learning framework.
“We also have some traditions that include the Writing Competition and the Spelling Bee that raise the profile of literacy in the college.’’
Ms Gregory said the school had heavily invested in its Walker Learning approach in primary years, which provided a strong foundation.
It also had a systematic approach to phonics.
The Lakes’ secondary students were encouraged to become critical and creative thinkers.
Genesis Christian College principal Paul Sterling said their success in NAPLAN was the result of an holistic approach to education.
“At the College we are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students, both in NAPLAN and other areas of college life,’’ Mr Sterling said.
“Students at Genesis work hard in all that they do and are supported by fabulous teachers who care deeply for every child.
“Our academic program is both rigorous and intentionally broad to cater for diverse learners.
“At Genesis, our desire is to equip our young people to make a positive impact for the common good of society.
“Our staff find it a genuine privilege to partner with families around this shared vision.’’
To determine how each school performed in 2022, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Year 5 or Year 9) were combined and the average found.
Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.
The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
