A major Brisbane high school was plunged into lockdown on Tuesday after a senior staff member was allegedly caught up in an altercation involving students on the grounds.

An email seen by The Courier-Mail sent by Kedron State High School middle school officer Sharon Eichmann on Tuesday afternoon informed parents of the lockdown.

“At no time was the health and safety of your young person at risk,” the email states.

“The lockdown was a precautionary measure, undertaken to ensure the good order and management of the school.

“Kedron SHS treats the safety of staff and students with the utmost care and normal routines were established in the school within fifteen minutes.”

Ms Eichmann thanked staff and students for their actions following the incident.
