An overseas buyer is eyeing off an “entry level waterfront” Buddina home listed for a cool $3.5m after bidders failed to swoop on the home at auction.
There was plenty of anticipation as 32 Adaluma Ave, Buddina, hit the market for the first time in 14 years, pitched as an “entry level waterfront” property.
McGrath Caloundra sales agent Bree Charles said after the Saturday, June 4 auction the home was listed for sale for offers over $3.5m.
Ms Charles said about 70 people arrived at the auction, including locals and neighbours, to find there were no registered bidders.
She said the auctioneer was “upfront” about the result.
“Buyers change their mind all the time,” Ms Charles said.
“But the auctioneer was transparent, he said to everyone he wished he could have put on a show.
“We did do some private viewings and there is already interest.”
Ms Charles said “multiple” buyers were in discussions about the property, including one from overseas.
Buddina residents of more than 40 years, Merv and Anne Paddison, listed the home for sale after they purchased it for $1.2m in 2008.
Last year the street was identified as one of the most expensive on the Sunshine Coast, with a median sale price of $4.5m.
Ms Charles said it was one of the more affordable Adaluma Ave properties because it was south-facing towards the canal, not the river.
The home features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, four car ports, a boathouse and a 7.5m pontoon.
Merv, a former Golden Beach State School principal, and Anne, a retired Kuluin State Primary teacher, are well known in the area for their volunteer work with Sunshine Coast Turtle Care.
Now aged in their 70s, the pair planned to downsize, with their sights set on Bokarina Beach.
