A booming property market is transforming Gympie real estate into a goldmine, with one of these 11 properties selling for $1.63 million after just one day on the open market.

The huge deals have been secured on the back of a thriving property market which is powering prices not only around the city centre but in its outer reaches too.

Goomeri’s housing prices have soared more than 35 per cent in the past year.

Units have not been left out in the cold either.

Unit prices at Gympie and the Southise increased more than 13 per cent in March and June, a surge that placed those markets as among the best performing in Queensland.

These are the 11 biggest settled sales in the region since February 2021, according to CoreLogic data.

The new owners of popular Mary Valley wedding and accommodation venue Honeybee Country Accommodation paid $3 million for the tourist spot, almost 10 times the amount paid for the property when it last changed hands.

Former owners Maree and Allan Rainbow sold the property in May, the first time the Kandanga resort had changed hands in eight years.

42 Lower Wide Bay Rd, Sexton $2.85 million

The 200ha “Koolong” dairy farm was bought in March for a touch under $3 million after more than two years on the market.

It boasts four bedrooms, another large sleep out bedroom, one bathroom, is only 20 minutes away from the Gympie CBD and can handle 200-300 cattle.

3317 Gympie Woolooga Rd, Lower Wonga, $2.7 million

This 129ha farm is getting a new lease on life as part of the $130 million Woolooga Solar Farm being built by Lightsource BP.

264 Goomong Rd, Kandanga, $2.4 million

This 82ha cattle farm was bought by Beerwah-based company Pump Star, which also trades under the name Diamondfield Produce, in April.

115 Kress Rd, Tuchekoi, $2 million

The Nudgee College Education Centre at Tuchekoi was bought for $2 million in February.

The Nudgee College Outdoor Education Centre in the Mary Valley was bought by Arlington freehold in February after little more than one month on the market.

The 40ha school includes a house, three accommodation blocks and a recreational hub.

This Sunset Harbour property in Rainbow Beach’s marine precinct includes a 7m private concrete boat ramp, 12m pontoon slipway, solar power, storage and access to the town water supply.

A one bedroom home and 10-year lease over the adjoining water were included in the deal.

1706 Wide Bay Hwy, Woolooga, $1.842 million

This 105ha farm previously belonging to Gympie council deputy mayor Hilary Smerdon was yet another block bought by Lightsource BP for construction of its $130 million Woolooga solar park.

477 Upper Widgee Rd, Widgee, $1.8 million

This Widgee property, which was at the centre of the prolonged Widgee Engineering planning court fight, was sold for $1.8 million in May.

This 173ha “Currawan” cattle farm was taken off the market for $1.8 million in May.

The property was at the centre of a prolonged battle over the future of nearby Widgee Engineering.

The previous owners successfully appealed a Gympie Regional Council decision in favour of the company and won tighter restrictions.

However, in a win for the owners, the business was allowed to stay on the block it has called home for more than 25 years.

This four-bedroom farm on 227ha sold at auction in early February.

It included the home, a self-contained granny flat, large work shed, cattle yards, multiple paddocks, plenty of water and improved pastures.

128 Reid Rd, Widgee, $1.63 million

This livestock farm and workshop sitting on 140ha west of Gympie was sold at auction in March after one day on the open market.

113 Fritz Rd, Chatsworth, $1.61 million

This 16ha block with a four-bedroom home was bought in May by Roberts Bros Holdings for $1.61 million after an extended run on the market dating back to December 2018.

The land was bought with development in mind as a 29-lot subdivision has been proposed for the block.

The application was lodged with the council on Wednesday; exact details of the proposal are not yet know.
