White witch Fiona Horne is hanging up her broomstick — publicly anyway.
The Def FX frontwoman and author is home in Australia for a spoken-word tour to promote her new book, The Art Of Witch, and just two weeks ago decided it will be her last tour.
After obtaining her commercial pilot licence in 2016, the 52-year-old is working full-time flying planes for charter company Island Birds in the Caribbean.
“I’ve transformed my life from that of a broomstick to an aeroplane, which is far more comfortable,” Horne told The Daily Telegraph.
“I’ve got what I call a real job … the entertainment industry with all of its variables became something I felt was draining me rather than enriching my life and I didn’t feel useful.”
It wasn’t an easy decision to make but one Horne stands by.
She is, however, looking forward to seeing her fans at the Vanguard on Wednesday night, as well as performing with Def FX at The Crowbar on June 27. “This will be the last time,” she said. “I want this tour to be a celebration.”
