A 15-year-old boy has been charged after a stolen ute went on a dangerous hit-and-run rampage through Townsville.

Police allege the ute — stolen from a Pimlico home just before 7am — had already been involved in multiple hit-and-run incidents across Thuringowa earlier that morning.

The stolen RAM was later found abandoned at Paddington Terrace, Douglas, around 11.15am.

A 15-year-old Kelso boy has now been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of armed robbery.

He was due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on Monday morning.

Police previously said the boy was linked to disruptions of the Anzac Day Parade at Riverway, however they later retracted that.
