A 19-year-old man has been charged over an alleged stabbing that took place near a licenced venue in South Townsville.
Palm Island man Isaiah John Grant, 19, has been charged with wounding in relation to an alleged incident in South Townsville on Friday.
Police will allege that Grant and a 42-year-old man became involved in a verbal altercation outside a licensed venue on McIlwraith Street around 10.30pm.
The confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in the 42-year-old man sustaining stab wounds to his upper thigh, stomach, and chest a short distance away from the venue.
Paramedics transported the 42-year-old to the Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
Police arrested a 19-year-old Palm Island man in relation to the incident around 3.20pm on Saturday.
He was remanded in custody and his matters were adjourned until July 26 during a brief mention in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
Grant is also facing one count each of possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence and fail to take reasonable care and precautions in respect of a syringe or needle.
The incident is the fifth alleged stabbing reported in Townsville in less than two weeks.
In unrelated incidents, a 23-year-old Coles worker was allegedly stabbed during an attempted carjacking in North Ward, a 30-year-old man was alleged to have stabbed his roommate in the same suburb, a 26-year-old man was allegedly fatally stabbed in Kirwan and a woman was hospitalised following an Aitkenvale stabbing however no charges have been made yet.
