Pedestrian dies after being hit by ute in Ingham

A tragedy has unfolded on a Queensland road where a pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a ute.

A 54-year-old man has been killed after he was struck by a ute at Ingham in north Queensland overnight.

Police said that about 10.50pm emergency services were called to Trebonne Road following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a white Toyota HiLux.

Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics attended where one male patient was assessed on scene with significant life-threatening injuries.

The pedestrian, a 54-year-old Rowes Bay man, died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old Bemerside man and a passenger, a 22-year-old Aitkenvale man, were not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the crash, to come forward.
