House substantially damaged in fire at Pimlico

Police are guarding the scene of the house fire with the cause yet to be determined.

A house has been extensively damaged by fire overnight.

Emergency services were called to the fire at the corner of Granville St and Cavendish St, Pimlico about 10.20pm on Wednesday.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the scene was under police guard, with fire investigators expected to examine the cause of the fire today.

No one was injured in the fire.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 12.40am Thursday.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the house had been vacant for some time.

A neighbour said the house was burning at the front and back.

The neighbour heard sounds like a rubbish bin being taken out before he noticed the blaze.

The house gutted by fire was about 200m from where Samantha Rose Bong was allegedly murdered by her brother on Friday.
