Name released of Townsville woman allegedly murdered by brother

A woman who died from alleged stabbing in her Pimlico home has been named, as her brother faced court charged with murder.

Townsville Magistrates Court documents, obtained by the Bulletin, reveal Samantha Rose Bong was the woman police allege was murdered in Pimlico on Saturday.

She became the tenth woman to die from an alleged domestic violence-related incident in Australia this year.

Police were called to the Granville St address about 1am and police alleged Ms Bong, 49, was killed by her brother.

She was declared dead at the scene after suffering fatal stab wounds.

The Mount Isa man, Dennis William Sore, was charged with murder – domestic violence offence on Saturday.

The case came before Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday, but Mr Sore did not appear and no bail application was made.

The 40-year-old’s case will return to the court on May 27.
