Footage has emerged from the United States of the dramatic arrest of Donald Day Jnr, the Arizonan man wanted for his alleged connection to the deadly Wieambilla terrorist attack in December 2022.

Mr Day was taken into custody by heavily armed FBI agents at a Chevron service station on Highway 260 at Heber-Overgaard on December 1.

A witness who spoke to the local broadcaster Arizona’s Family said she went to the fuel station for breakfast with a friend when agents swooped in.

“I was playing on my phone and she started yelling at me, ‘Don’t come in, don’t come in,’” the woman who wished to remain anonymous said.

“She was so alarmed.

“When I looked around I saw in excess, at least 20 FBI agents in full gear with side arms and everything.

“I really shocked me because we are a small community.”

Video provided to Arizona’s Family depicts a large number of FBI agents and police wearing tactical gear and carrying firearms.

US authorities allege that one charge relates to threats made in a YouTube video after the Wieambilla shooting where Day is alleged to have threatened to kill any law enforcement official who came to his residence.

The second count related to an alleged threat to kill the Director General of the World Health Organization in February 2023 on the video platform BitChute, and calling on others to join him.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release.

“The ongoing investigation, as outlined in February this year, was to identify any residual threats posed to the Australia and Queensland community as result of this religiously motivated terrorist attack.

“One threat was made in relation to comments posted online in December 2022, inciting violence in relation to the event at Wieambilla.”

The charges relate to comments and messages shared between Gareth and Stacey Train, and the 58-year-old US man in the lead up to the terrorist attack .

“They were motivated by as Christian Extremist Ideology and subscribe to the broad Christian belief system known as premillennialism,” Ms Scanlon said.

“The motivation of the US national remains under investigation.

Police alleged that Garth began following the 58-years-old man’s YouTube account around May 2020 and the pair started commenting directly in May 2021

“We have evidence to show the Train subsequently accessed an older YouTube account created by the same man in 2014 and viewed that content,” Ms Scanlon said.

“Between May 2021 and December 2022, the man repeatedly sent messages containing Christian end-of-days ideology to Garth and then Stacy,”

The man fronted court in Tucson, Arizona early Wednesday morning, Australian time and is yet to enter a plea to the charges.
