More than 2000 runners are expected to hit the road this Sunday in a morning of fitness, health, and wellbeing, some running a fun 4km and others a more challenging 10km.
“The whole point of the event is not to be first or win, but to have a healthy lifestyle and get people up and moving,” event co-ordinator Cassandra Hunter said.
The annual Optimise Health Peak2Park run is not just about getting people out, but raising money for a good cause.
“Funds this year will go to Top Blokes, Sunrise Way, and Ability Enterprises,” Ms Hunter said.
The event has garnered an incredible support base with 40-80, people turning up to the group training sessions every Tuesday night at Queens Park.
At least 63 groups have registered to run, from companies and enterprises, school groups, friends or gyms.
“It’s such a big thrill for us, I love the energy and the hype on the day,” Ms Hunter said.
The event was started in 2016, and runners will take off from Picnic Point from 7am, with the 4km track cutting down Alderley St, turning at Aberdeen St and finishing at Lake Annand.
The 10km track extends from Picnic Point to Spring St, takes a turn on Mackenzie St before joining the 4km runners along Aberdeen St to finish at Lake Annand.
