Tara’s Lil Boutiques Toowoomba reveals reason behind business

A Toowoomba businesswoman’s brand has experienced a boom in the last two months, and she has revealed the amazing reason she started running her dream business.

NDIS new call process could 'hinder' the system

Toowoomba businesswoman, disability support worker, and mum Tara-Leigh Williams has shared the inspiration and driving force behind her desire to open her own shop, combining her love for her family and a knack for the arts.

The Tara’s Lil Boutiques creator opened her shop for one special reason – to help her son Beau, who has been defying all medical odds since the day he was born.

“He had a very traumatic birth,” she said.

“We went into the hospital the day before and basically was sent home with pain killers and a sleeping tablet and told to lay down.

“Through those 12 hours we knew something wasn’t right.”

Beau was born and diagnosed with a global developmental delay, but the joy he brings to the lives of those around him is unmatched, his mum said.

“I look back on it now and I wouldn’t change it for the world,” she said.

“He’s such a happy little boy and every day he’s getting stronger and stronger.”

Beau is the driving force behind Tara’s Lil Boutiques, with all profits going towards treatment for him.

“It always goes towards him,” Mrs Williams said.

“I always take him with me when we deliver, he makes everyone smile and he can just make a bad day better.”

Mrs Williams initially started her business in 2020, but the pandemic put a hold on operations.

It’s only been recently that Tara’s Lil Boutiques has experienced a real boom.

“It started off with only 100 people and now I’m close to 800 and it started going off in the last two months,” the creator said.

Tara’s Lil Boutiques creates personalised pieces from candles to melts to decorative hoops for birthdays, weddings, any number of significant events in a person’s life.

Mrs Williams said the idea started after she created personalised pieces for her own wedding in 2019, and inquiries about the creations started from there.

“I got a lot of interest at the wedding and I said I did it by myself,” she said.

“Our son at the time was just turning two and so I figured I would start it for him.

“I wanted to create something for him.”

Mrs Williams works alongside with local businesses Nath Made It and Helena Rose to create the custom pieces.

She once had a dream to be a wedding planner, but she said being involved in the most special days of a person’s life in this special way has been a dream come true for the business owner.

“It’s lovely to get my pieces in there and be recognised for creating them and that there’s a cause behind it,” she said.
