Sharon Anne Edwards appeared on 31 charges in Toowoomba Magistrates Court

A frustrated magistrate threatened to revoke a woman’s bail after she appeared before the court facing more than 30 charges, unprepared to move the matters forward.

To the great distaste of a Toowoomba magistrate, a woman facing more than 30 charges requested more time to get her paperwork sorted.

Sharon Anne Edwards appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court with no less than 31 charges on July 25.

The matters before the court include drug possession, receiving tainted property, unlawful possession of a weapon and stealing, among others.

Matthew Willshire from A. W. Bale and sons appeared by phone as a friend of the court on behalf of Ms Edwards.

Sharon Anne Edwards appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on July 25, where her 31 charges were adjourned for three weeks.

The court was told the solicitor was waiting for Ms Edwards to provide her legal aid application documents, before they could be contracted as representatives.

While magistrate Kay Ryan did consent to an adjournment of three weeks, she warned Ms Edwards that the numerous matters would have to be dealt with sooner or later.

“Ms Edwards, the last time this was in court … you told the magistrate that you had financial information to provide to A. W. Bale,” Ms Ryan said.

“Here we are a whole month later, and it’s still not done.

“I can tell you now, if you come back to court next time and say you still haven’t done it, if it’s before me, I’ll revoke your bail and remand you in custody until it is done.

“These matters are not going away.”

Ms Edwards’ matter was adjourned to August 15.
