Shock has hit a Toowoomba suburb as tributes flow for a woman who was found dead in the front yard of her house along one of the city’s busiest streets.

Police were called to a house on the corner of Buckland St and Drayton Rd in Harristown at 1.30pm on Saturday where they found 55-year-old Leanne Falkingham deceased near the driveway in the front yard.

“Aunty was the most beautiful, kind-hearted person I ever knew,” Ms Falkingham’s niece Samie Maree said.

“She would always put a smile on your face when you needed it most.

“She will never be forgotten and always missed.”

Samie Maree said the family wanted closure over the 55-year-old’s death.

At the news of her death on social media, comments flowed with sympathy and condolences.

“Your aunty was a beautiful woman,” wrote Ruby Warner.

“May she rest in peace.”

On Saturday afternoon, Buckland St was closed off by police as a crime scene was established and police gained access to the locked house.

On Sunday morning, the street was open, but the surrounding footpath remained cordoned off with police remaining on scene.

A 49-year-old man had been assisting police with their investigations and had since been released, police said.
