A Toowoomba man will face the Magistrates Court today charged with armed robbery with police alleging he threatened another man with a handgun.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said police will allege the 44-year-old approached a 52-year-old man near the corner of Margaret Street and Duggan Street in the early hours of June 7.

“The 44-year-old man demanded money and produced an item that looked like a hand gun,” Sgt McCusker said.

The victim handed over a small amount of cash and the accused has fled on a push bike.

Police arrested the 44-year-old man on Tuesday and charged him with one count of armed robbery.

He was held in custody overnight and will face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today where police will object to his release on bail.

Police are yet to recover the suspected handgun.
