Park Waves Festival cancelled ahead of 2026 Toowoomba dates
A highly anticipated heavy metal tour set for Toowoomba has joined the growing list of Australian music festival closures.
Heavy metal giants Parkway Drive have cancelled their 11-date Australian festival tour due to rising costs crushing the entertainment industry.
“This is a message we never imagined we’d have to write, and it weighs heavily on us,” a statement on the Parkway Drive Facebook page read.
“Just writing this feels like a kick in the guts, but here we are – another festival being crushed by the rising costs across our entertainment industry.
“It hurts to be another casualty in this chapter of the Australian music scene.
“We’ve tried every possible option to keep this dream alive, but the reality of (sic) the circumstances won’t allow for it.”
The band thanked supporters for keeping the “culture alive and standing strong through the worst of times”.
Festival promoter Destroy All Lines confirmed the cancellation was due to a “combination of challenges”, adding the “numbers no longer stack up”.
Toowoomba was one of two Queensland stops, alongside Sandstone Point near Bribie Island, on the metalcore band’s Australian festival tour which would have commenced in early 2026.
Scheduled to join them on the festival track were The Amity Affliction, Northlane, Alpha Wolf, and Story of the Year.
Parkway Drive and Destroy All Lines advised pre-purchased tickets to the festival will be fully refunded with all ticket holders to receive further information via email.
