A man is in police custody after allegedly smashing a glass door at the Toowoomba Centrelink office.

Police were called to the incident on Bell Street about 2.10pm on Tuesday, following reports of a disturbance.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers took a man into custody about 10 minutes later.

The office remains open to the public.

Tuesday’s disturbance comes after a similar matter in January when the Centrelink office was placed in lockdown.

At the time a 37-year-old man was alleged to have caused a disturbance and kicked a glass panel, prompting staff to activate the centre’s duress alarm.
