The region’s hottest event of the year is sure to pack a punch, with a crafty new surprise instore for visitors.
The Murphys Creek Chilli Festival includes eating competitions, international food trucks and more than 500 chilli products on offer on the day.
“This is really a foodie’s festival,” event director Jason O’Connor said.
“We have this incredible following from vendors all over Australia.
“It’s the biggest range of chilli products available at any event in Queensland.”
This year a new artisan shed featuring local stained glass artisans, jewellery makers and woodworkers is set to entice the more “chilli-phobic” in attendance.
“Usually one part of the couple loves chilli and the other not so much,” Mr O’Connor said.
“We want everyone to be comfortable and happy and shopping and picnicking, having a chill Sunday afternoon.”
The festival will also boast live music, kid-friendly activities and a mega-prize raffle worth $2500.
“There’s something for everyone to do,” Mr O’Connor said.
“It’s a big, big day of chilli, something cool to drink, maybe some ice cream and filling up your shopping trolley.”
The festival will be held at the Murphys Creek Grounds on Jessie Lane from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, September 22.
A $2 entry fee will go to supporting Rural Aid.
