Luke Anthony Scott was jailed for eight years for shooting a man in Rangeville

The 29-year-old was released on parole earlier this year but was taken back into custody on Wednesday on 17 fresh charges.

Luke Anthony Scott will remain in the Toowoomba watch house over the weekend before appearing in the Magistrates Court on Monday.

A Toowoomba man who gained notoriety when he was jailed for eight years after pleading guilty to shooting a man in the stomach outside a Rangeville house has been taken back into custody.

Luke Anthony Scott was arrested by Toowoomba police on Wednesday and taken into custody but was transported to the hospital for treatment for an undisclosed condition.

His solicitor Joe McConnell, of McConnell and Saldumbide Lawyers, told Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday it was expected his client would be released from hospital Friday afternoon and asked that his case be adjourned to Monday.

Scott, 29, has been charged with 17 fresh offences including three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two of evading police, four of disqualified driving and one each of unlawfully using a motor vehicle, burglary, failing to provide a specimen of breath or saliva for testing, possessing dangerous drugs, stealing, obstructing police, wilful damage and trespassing.

No details of the allegations were aired in court and Scott has not been required to enter any pleas to the charges.

He was jailed by the Toowoomba Supreme Court in October 2019 for eight years for the shooting of a 27-year-old man in Rangeville on the night of July 20, 2017.

The victim required surgery but made a complete recovery.

At sentence, Scott had already served almost two years in pre-sentence custody and was granted parole earlier this year.

Magistrate Damian Carroll remanded Scott in custody and adjourned the matters for mention back in the same court on Monday.
