THOSE planning on going to the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show on Sunday might be advised to take an umbrella and maybe head out earlier in the day.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Harry Clark said Toowoomba could receive some showers and possibly a thunder storm later in the afternoon Sunday or early evening.
“It’s a little wet but not too bad early on but later in the day there could be some showers with the possibility of heavy rain and possibly a thunder storm later in the afternoon or evening,” the meteorologist said.
Mr Clark said the maximum temperatures of 21 for Sunday and 20 for Monday were five or six degrees below the March average for Toowoomba although the minimums of 16 degrees were about average for this time of year.
“From Wednesday on maximum temperatures should be back up to the 23 or 24 degree mark,” he said.
“Toowoomba’s March average maximum is 26 degrees so you’re five or six below.”
Mr Clark said while there was a warning of heavy rain for parts east of Gatton along the coastline from Noosa to the Gold Coast where falls as heavy as 250mm could be possible, Toowoomba should escape the heaviest of the falls.
“It’s looking like Toowoomba will be on the edge of it but it will still be quite wet and showery,” he said.
“It’s possible Toowoomba could get up to 30mm on Monday and Tuesday.”
