Toowoomba Royal Show 2022 starts today

Thousands are expected to pass through the gates of the Toowoomba Showgrounds today and on the weekend for the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show.

The Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland CEO Damon Phillips said the team was excited to get back into it.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “There have been a few challenges our way … but planning has gone well, the grounds are looking magnificent after the recent rain and competitors are getting involved.

“People are so keen to get out and start showing again, so we’re just hopeful the Toowoomba community supports the show.”

With phones ringing off the hook and in-person inquiries at the show’s Clifford Gardens location, Mr Phillips is confident the region will turn out for the show.

“It’s a really stressful time for all our guys, but all our volunteers have been doing a magnificent job in pretty trying circumstances as well, and they deserve credit for putting on a show for the whole community to enjoy,” he said.

“There’s so much to see … having bull riding back, a couple of firework shows at night, the jetpack on the lake … there’s a lot of excitement building and it's a great opportunity for the Toowoomba people to come out and enjoy it.”

The show will run from 9am to 9pm today and tomorrow, and 9am to 5pm on Sunday.

Ticket prices range from $20 to free for children under five.
