Axle Glenn Ferris pays dearly for motorcycle ride on Toowoomba street
Riding a motorcycle at night with no head or tail lights and no helmet was not the smartest thing this 20-year-old had done.

Taking a motorcycle for a test run has proved expensive for a 20-year-old Toowoomba fined more than $1300 for the ride.
Police patrolling Newtown streets about 8pm, September 13, spotted Axle Glenn Ferris riding a motorcycle on Betty St without a helmet and the bike having no head or tail lights, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.
Checks found the bike was unregistered and uninsured and that Ferris had never held a driver’s licence, police prosecutor Bettina Trenear told the court.
Ferris told police the bike was not running well and he was taking it for a ride.
He said he didn’t have a helmet to wear, Ms Trenear said.
The self represented Ferris pleaded guilty to a total five offences all arising from the ride.
Magistrate Howard Osborne fined him $400 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for three months for driving unlicensed, $320 for an uninsured motorcycle, $230 for unregistered vehicle, $150 for not having a helmet and $250 for having no lights on the bike.
