Toowoomba man accused of raping child after meeting on Snapchat for vapes

A Toowoomba man stands accused of raping a child in a public place after the pair met on social media for the supply of vapes.

Police allege a Toowoomba man raped a 14-year-old girl he met on social media, after organising to meet the child and supply her with vapes.

Salah Sulaiman Almuhama’s case was before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday, February 2, for a directions hearing.

Solicitor Jason Grant submitted an application to cross-examine the child during a pre-trial hearing, which was opposed by police, and refused by Magistrate Clare Kelly.
The court heard Mr Almuhama and the girl only met once in early 2023, which is when the alleged rape occurred at a Toowoomba lookout.

It is alleged the pair met at Highfields so Mr Almuhama could supply the girl with smoking products.

Police alleged Mr Almuhama digitally raped the girl and she told him she did not like it.

The court heard Mr Almuhama’s legal team would argue the pair made a sexual agreement in regards to the supply of two vapes.

Mr Almuhama’s bail was enlarged, and his case will next be mentioned before the court on March 14.
