The Tasmanian Football Club launching has brought a lot of creativity, but Lily & Dot owner Katinka Dineen says the unveiling of mascot Rum’un is the most exciting development yet.
“Rum’un is very … edgy, and Lily & Dot like to push the boundaries,” Ms Dineen said.
“Tasmanian creatives love anything quintessentially Tasmanian.”
Ms Dineen knew since Rum’un’s introduction that she wanted to include unique, handcrafted Devils merchandise of her own in her store, reaching out to her local makers to invent their own take on the mascot and the AFL club.
“The maker, Tracie, was already on the same wavelength as she was already making one,” she said.
“The thing about crafty people is they love a challenge.”
The Rum’un crochet beanies have been a hit in store, with Ms Dineen stating that through social media, she is fully sold-out of all beanies and Devils mascots and a waitlist for products is now in place.
“So many people are on board with the footy club, so once we were able to share the beautiful beanies and mascots on social media – it’s been a huge success,” she said.
“We are only small-scale and working with local producers for handmade products so while they take time, they are a uniquely Tasmanian product, like our team.
“We might have to start stocking some more items soon, given the popularity.”
