Tassie’s newest mascot Rum’un the Devil has been met with mixed reactions. Here’s what you had to say.

Rum’un the Devil is Tasmania Football Club’s first mascot — and we believe he’s the leader of the pack with his unique story of truly wearing Tassie on his sleeve.

The mascot developed in partnership with Tasmanian arts organisation Terrapin Puppet Theatre was co-designed and developed with schoolchildren across the state. His fur is made from recycled school uniforms from across the island.

WHAT YOU ARE SAYING

Justine Brooks: Love it! Sends the right message — we are not here to muck around. Though we be small, we are mighty!

It’s the Raygun of mascots

Chris Shelvo

Mel Best: I like the concept and love that Tasmaniani school kids were involved and that school uniforms were recycled to creat the ‘coat — not sure about the final execution though.

Kerry Ann McKittrick: Love that so many school students got to work on this project as it went from school to school. Such a wonderful experience for them. A great first mascot for the Devils.

Donna Cowen: Now we have the name of the team and our mascot. Build the stadium and Tasmania will be up there with the other states. Come on Tassie people, make Tasmania proud to live in this state.

Naomi Lauren: The costume is a little rough. Looks like when your mum makes you wear your cousin’s costume from 4 yrs ago to book week.

Whendiey Stewart: It looks tatty and like a red hot mess!

Sue Groom: He is fun! Maybe just a little adjustment here and there.

Lyn Jenkins: All the amazing designs that were posted on the Facebook site and THIS is the decision.

Jessica Stewart: It looks like a pinata. If the chest was replaced with the guernsey it would be fine.

Yes, made from recycled school uniforms. Brilliant!! Love the name.

Lyndell Smith

Victoria Eaves-Young: Fabulous concept — but the body looks like the detritus in a long neglected shower drain sadly.

Skid Hutton: The boys on Front Bar are gunna love this

Damien Mcg: The costume is a little rough round the edges but it’s the nickname “Rum’un” that’s got me !! C’mon is that the best they could come up with?

Jim Martin: Why does a devil have feathers? The knee pads are horrible

Jillian Bake: Love it. great made from recycled materials and helped designed by children.

Claire Kitchen: My grandmother used to say Rummon when I lived in NSW I’d say they’re a Rummon and people would say what’s a Rummon it is a Tassie saying

Vann Demon: To all those saying it looks great, you should’ve gone to Specsavers.

Cari Delarue: Old trackie dacks and the shredded dreams of teams of yesterday. What a splendid metaphor.

Monica Ruth: I like the head, disappointing they couldn’t make the check markings white (there’s nothing yellow/gold about the Tassie Devil) or the facial colour pink

Greg Vee: Love it, like all mascots they are meant to be silly, stupid and awesome at the same time. Can’t wait to see our team and our mascot play in our new stadium. Bring it!

Looks like a ice cream cake from Temu

Mick West

Nathan Farrelly: Be careful roaring that loud mate, you might get a 3 week suspension of the AFL for that.

Dion Clarke: My kids already love it and can’t wait to see it about in public
