Emergency services rush to Lyell Highway Southwest after motorcycle crash

A man riding a motorcycle is reportedly injured after crashing on the Lyell Highway, police say.

Police helicopter races to motorcycle crash

3.35pm: Emergency services, including the police helicopter, are rushing to the scene of a reported motorcycle crash.

It’s understood a man who was riding the motorbike has sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the incident on the Lyell Highway Southwest.

Police say it’s believed to be a single vehicle crash.

Vehicle crashes into yard at Fern Tree

Update 4.10pm: The crash has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal at Huon Rd, Fern Tree.

March 10, 2.20pm: A vehicle has come off the road and driven into a yard, police said.

Emergency services have arrived to the scene of the single vehicle crash on Huon Rd, Fern Tree near number 653.

Police said paramedics were assessing the multiple occupants in the car with initial indications some had minor injuries and some would be transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for further assessment.

The road is expected to remain blocked while the scene is cleared.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
