A rap group which shares it’s name with a western Sydney street gang has lashed out at the decision to cancel their gig.

The musicians aren’t part of the gang but rap about life on the streets.

OneFour, known as “drill rappers”, were set to support UK performer Octavian at the Oxford Art Factory on August 14 but now claims the show has been cancelled following pressure from police.

“We’re gutted to announce that we won’t be playing the Octavian show that was scheduled for next month here in Sydney,” a post to the group’s Facebook page said yesterday.

The group claims it was police leant on the venue to force it to cancel the show.

However Octavian has been billed to appear at festivals in Poland, Sweden and Tokyo throughout August and promoter BBE could not be contacted Sunday to clarify why the event was not going ahead.

“In fact, the whole show has been shutdown. This is the third time the NSW Police have pressured the venue we were due to perform at and it’s getting fkn frustrating.

“They want us to get us off the street, yet they won’t give us a chance to.

“We’ve played three shows with no problems, yet they’re still trying to shut us down. While we’re trying to work and be productive, they want to flex their authority.

“We’re hoping we can get through this obstacle soon so we can give the Sydney supporters what they want and that is a OneFourshow.”

Refunds for the show will be issued on Monday.

Police have set up Strike Force Imbara to investigate a rising violence among street gangs, including a Mount Druitt groupcalled OneFour.

One track titled Shanks and Shivs has had 1.1 million views on YouTube.
