A South Australian woman has been killed in a remote Aboriginal community after a horrific early-morning crash.
Paramedics were called to Doomadgee Rd in Doomadgee after a single-vehicle crash at 2.31am on Saturday.
An 18-year-old woman from South Australia was in a critical condition upon their arrival.
She was assessed at the scene with first-aid rendered but did not survive her injuries.
It is understood police were still carrying out a next-of-kin notification process at 10am on Saturday.
A QPS spokeswoman said it was believed the woman lost control of her vehicle.
She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Doomadgee is the last township on the Queensland section of the Savannah Way before hitting the Northern Territory.
It had a population of 1405 people at the 2016 Census.
Doomadgee Rd is part of the National Highway and links up with State Route 84 at Wills Developmental Rd, southwest of Burketown.
Crash investigators are now working to determine the circumstances of the crash.
