Virginia man, 36, charged after cocaine, methamphetamine and cash seized in SAPOL, Australian Border Force raid

A man will face court on serious drugs and money-laundering charges after nearly $100,000 in cash was found during a police raid.

A Virginia man will face court on serious drug trafficking and money-laundering charges after being arrested as part of a multi-agency investigation.

On Wednesday, Crime Gangs Task Force investigators and Australian Border Force officers arrested the 36-year-old man at a Virginia property, where they seized 180g of methamphetamine, 150g of cocaine and $97,355 in cash.

Stolen property and a black Holden Commodore SS suspected of being stolen were also seized in the bust.

The 36-year-old man was charged with two counts each of trafficking in controlled drugs and money laundering.

A 45-year-old Huntfield Heights man at the address was also arrested and charged with breach of bail.

Both men were refused police bail to face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Crime Gangs Task Force officer in charge Detective Chief Inspector David Huddy said the arrests seizures and arrests were “the result of ongoing and deliberate interagency partnerships to counter the community threats posed by drug importation and trafficking.”

ABF Inspector Steve Garden said working with partner agencies was “so critical to disrupting these criminals and keeping the community safe.”

“Crime gangs relentlessly target the Australian border in their attempts to profit from unleashing untold harm on the community,” Inspector Garden said.
