Hells Angels, Comanchero feud fears after string of shooting arrests

South Australia Police’s crime gangs task force says it has arrested multiple people over a series of shootings they believe are linked to a bikie feud.

The Advertiser/7 NEWS Adelaide update:

Police have made a string of arrests over two suburban shootings linked to violence between outlaw bikie gangs.

On Tuesday, the Crime Gangs Task Force arrested a 26-year-old member of the Comanchero bikie gang for discharging a shotgun at an Ingle Farm home in June this year, Detective chief inspector David Huddy said.

The man is set to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates court on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old Craigmore woman was also arrested on Wednesday and charged with aiding and abetting over the same June incident.

On June 23, police received a call from a member of the community reporting gunshots on Barunga Ave at Ingle Farm.

Detective Chief Inspector Huddy said investigations following the incident led to this week’s arrests but the weapon used in the alleged shooting was yet to be found.

They have issued a plea for any members of the public with any information as to the firearm’s whereabouts to come forward.

Police are also investigating another shooting at Munno Para West over the weekend.

Detective chief inspector Huddy said police were investigating whether the two shootings were linked, with the same type of firearm used in both incidents.

The incidents are believed to be linked to ongoing violence between the Hells Angels and Comanchero motorcycle gangs.

“We’ve been very busy searching homes of gang members. At one of those house searches about a week ago we found a handgun with ammunition,” he said.

Police allege the person in possession of the handgun was linked to the Hells Angels OMG.

Det Huddy said the two gangs were “competitors” in the same criminal activities and tensions were likely linked to disputes over drug trafficking and money laundering.

“You’re seeing two people arrested in two days and two others arrested in the last few weeks. Our commitment and our resolve will continue. We have seen conflict before, we’ve dealt with it and we’ve stopped it – and we’ll do it again,” he said.

Social media commentary over the incident at Munno Para West suggested there were mannequins in a car found near the shooting site and windows of the home were boarded up.

Det Huddy said OMG members “know what they sign up for”.

“My suggestion to gang members is, if you want to stop dealing and being dictated to in terms of violence and putting yourself and your family at risk – get out. Call us (police), we’ll help you,” he said.

Police anticipated that more arrests would be made in coming days in relation to the incidents.

A Hells Angels member was also arrested on domestic violence charges over the weekend after being found in possession of a loaded handgun.
