Man, 36, with stroller charged for breaking into houses under construction in Adelaide’s north

Police have arrested a northern suburbs man this morning who was pushing a stroller full of unusual items.

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Hillbank seen pushing a stroller filled with electrical wiring and copper piping.

About 2.30am this morning, police attended Pearless Rd in Munno Para West after reports an alarm had gone off at a construction site.

Upon arrival, police sighted a man inside the gated area pushing a stroller. He attempted to run away but was arrested a short distance later.

Police searched the man and found electrical wiring and copper piping in the stroller, as well as other items suspected to be used for breaking into houses.

The man has been charged with being unlawfully on premise, theft, carrying an offensive weapon and going equipped.

He has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.

Men on the run after bizarre attempted theft

Police are investigating the attempted theft of copper cabling in the northern suburbs on Friday morning, with two men now on the run.

About 1.30am, police were called to Turner Drive at Craigmore after a witness spotted a 4WD ute pulling about 300m of copper cabling from a Telstra pit.

Police arrived at the scene and saw a black Mitsubishi Triton parked in a nearby reserve, with two men standing next to the vehicle.

After seeing the patrols, the men jumped into the car and drove away.

Police followed the ute for a short time but lost sight of it. The two men were last seen heading north on Marshalsea Rd at Elizabeth Park.

Crime Scene Investigators will be attending the scene this morning.
