Two middle-aged women both lose licence after drink driving offences in eastern suburbs

Two drunk drivers have caused havoc in the eastern suburbs overnight, both losing their licence on the spot – with one blowing five times over the limit.

A 44-year-old Glenunga woman has blown almost five times over the legal blood alcohol limit in the eastern suburbs last night.

About 8.45pm, police were called to a service station on Greenhill Rd, Glenside after reports the driver of a grey Volkswagen Polo sedan appeared to be intoxicated.

A witness observed the driver repeatedly drive into a bollard as she attempted to leave the servo.

Patrols arrived at the scene and spoke with the woman, who submitted to a breath test and returned a positive result of 0.245.

She was reported for drink driving, issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence and had her car impounded for 28 days.

She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Woman five times over limit smashes into house

A 66-year-old woman has lost her licence on the spot after smashing through a fence and into a house in the eastern suburbs yesterday afternoon – five times over the limit.

About 3.45pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to Watson Ave, Rose Park, after reports a driver had lost control and driven into a house.

The driver, from Broadview, was breath tested and allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.253.

She was reported for drink driving and lost her licence on the spot for 12 months.

Her car was towed from the scene and she will be summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

Two people in hospital after collision in Enfield

Two people, including a teenage girl, have been taken to hospital after a station wagon ploughed into another vehicle before rolling in Enfield on Tuesday.

The Mitsubishi station wagon crashed into a ute parked on Young Street just before 7pm.

A 47-year-old Pooraka woman, who was behind the wheel, was taken to the hospital with her 16-year-old female passenger. Both have non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said both vehicles were “extensively damaged and towed from the scene” as investigations into the incident continue.
