A woman has been rushed to hospital after she was struck by a truck at Lower Light, in SA’s lower Mid North, earlier this morning.

On Tuesday, just before 2.30am, emergency services were called to the intersection of Port Wakefield Highway and Richardson Rd after receiving reports of a truck colliding with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 29-year-old Osborne woman, was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 38-year-old man from Unley Park, was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. He is assisting police with their investigation.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area, with southbound traffic lane closed, as Major Crash officers complete their investigation.

This incident comes only a few hours after a 19-year-old woman died at Waterloo Corner after a concrete truck crashed into her Lexus sedan.

The woman’s death is the 69th live lost on South Australian roads this year.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information relating to the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers online or on 1800 333 000.
