The mother of a teenage boy tragically killed in a car crash in the state’s South-East says her “soul is shattered and heart is broken”.

Archie Harrowfield, 17, of Senior, was killed when the Toyota HiLux he was driving crashed and rolled on Senior Rd, about 17km from Bordertown on Tuesday night.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene, but Archie died from his injuries.

Archie’s brother, Jamie O’Callaghan and mother Lindy Dwiar, posted a touching tribute to social media on Wednesday.

“Oh my baby brother Archie Harrowfield. Its not fair,” Mr O’Callaghan wrote.

“If I could trade all my years left for you I would, without a blink. For one more day, one more conversation.

“We love you mate. Life is cruel. Hug your loved ones. Tell them you love them.”

Ms Dwiar shared the same sentiment in her tribute posted, and remember Archie as her “little cowboy”.

“My soul is shattered and my heart is broken,” she wrote.

“My son Archie was taken too soon in a car crash last night.”

She said he was a “beautiful son”.

“There are no words to express how devastated we all are,” she wrote.

“My little cowboy I love you so much.”

Mr Harrowfield’s cousin Crystal Rawatxay also posted a short tribute in the wake of his tragic death.

“RIP to my beautiful cousin. Heartbreaking,” she wrote.

Others also share their memories of the young teenager.

“Deepest condolences to his family. Was a great kid with a positive attitude. Gone way too soon. RIP champ,” Amber McLaine wrote on Facebook.

A Bordertown resident – who said she knew Archie “like a son”, but did not want to be named – told The Advertiser she was devastated to hear of his passing.

“He was a loveable, larrikin lad … a good bloke and always there in a time of need”, she said.

“He was close with our boy and like another son (to us).”

She said the news would be shattering for a close group of friends who had met at Bordertown High.

“The boys were all farming boys and he was like an old soul, had skills and talents” she said.

Major Crash Investigators were travelling from Adelaide to Senior to examine the circumstances that led up to the crash.

The teenager’s death is the 74th life lost of our state’s roads, compared to 46 at the same time last year.
