iPad leads police to Payneham break-in suspect, police dog hunts down alleged car thieves

Police have arrested several suspected thieves overnight – including one nabbed with eastern suburbs loot – thanks to PD Chaos and another surprising ally.

A man has been arrested following a break-in the eastern suburbs on Thursday with the key to the bust being tablet GPS tracking.

About 4.15pm on Thursday, a woman returned to her home in Payneham to find two iPads and jewellery had been stolen from the property.

The victim told police GPS tracking showed an iPad was located in the Kilburn area.

Detectives arrived at the address and on searching the property found the stolen iPad and other items belonging to the woman.

Officers also located a mountain bike and mobile phone believed to have been stolen from Walkerville on October 24.

A 45-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with two counts of serious criminal trespass and two counts of theft.

He has been refused police bail and will appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court later on Friday.

Meanwhile, two women have been caught breaking into a car in an Adelaide beachside suburb in the early hours of Friday morning.

Just after 1.15am police responded to reports of the incident on Military Rd at Semaphore South.

A member of the public provided a good description to patrols who set up cordons and called in the dog squad.

Police Dog Chaos and his handler tracked the suspects to Kellett St and found two women allegedly with items suspected to have been stolen from various targets in the area.

One of the women was also allegedly in possession of a an ice pipe.

A 34-year-old woman from Findon was charged with being unlawfully on premises, illegal interference, theft, unlawful possession, possessing a house breaking implements and possession of drug equipment.

A 21-year-old woman from Risdon Park South was charged with being unlawfully on premises, illegal interference, theft, unlawful possession and failing to state details.

Both women have been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates today.
