The former husband of Adelaide-born influencer Olivia Molly Rogers says there are two sides to every story after his ex publicly revealed her version of events.

Olivia Molly Rogers' break-up revelation

The ex-husband of Adelaide-born former Miss Universe Australia, Olivia Molly Rogers has hit back after she broke her silence on the breakdown of their eight-month marriage.

Rogers’ ex-husband Justin McKeone, responding to her comments on why they split, posted on Instagram: “A wise person once said never believe there is one side to a story. Respect the dignity of a broken marriage > speaking publicly.

“My nearest and dearest know my side and that’s all that matters to me. That’s all you’ll ever (hear) from me. “Thank you for all the messages of support - I can honestly say l’ve never been happier.”

His comments came after the influencer said her marriage to McKeone was a mistake and that the reason they broke up was he made her “miserable”.

“There’s something to say about thinking marriage is going to be a solution,” she told hosts of the Life Uncut podcast, former Bachelor contestants Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley.

She also said she realised the thought of falling pregnant with him “terrified” her despite undergoing fertility treatments for the last 10-months.

“I thought all of these issues we had, he’s made this commitment to me and he’s going to make this commitment to me on that day, so surely … things will improve.

“Whatever you hope is going to change once you say I do, when it doesn’t, you’re like oh okay, it was just a big day, it was not this momentous thing that was going to suddenly heal everything.”

Rogers admitted she had serious “doubts” about marrying McKeone before their wedding day but felt she “made (her) bed and (she) had to lie in it”.

“It felt like I had too much to lose,” she said.

“It felt like too much to pull away from if I was to change my mind or cancel the day.”

The pair, who had been together for four and a half years, according to Rogers had “a lot of big issues”.

“When it’s a healthy relationship you can work on it as a team. But when the same things keep coming up over and over and over again you’re flogging a dead horse,” the former Miss Universe Australia said.

“I felt like I didn’t have anything left to give.”

Rogers said her short marriage should not be viewed as a “failure” but rather as someone bravely walking away because something was “really wrong”.

The day Rogers decided to split with McKeone she called her sister Eleanor.

“I said I feel like an idiot because we haven’t been married for very long,” she said.

“She said you’re not an idiot, you’re an optimist. You’ve been trying at this for five years, it’s not just the period of a marriage.”

The 30-year-old also called her Dad to ask whether he thought she should wait “until it’s been a year” before ending her relationship.

Rogers’ Dad Mark Rogers asked the former Miss Universe Australia how she was feeling in her marriage.

“I said I’m miserable.”

The former Miss Universe Australia had been having fertility treatment up until the day she split with McKeone.

She and McKeone had been trying to fall pregnant for the past 10 months of their relationship.

“I’ve always wanted to be a mum,” she said.

“I’m sure one day that will happen, I just came to the realisation that I would be better doing it on my own.”`

On a phone call with her sister she asked Rogers how she would feel if she found out she was pregnant tomorrow.

“I said, I would be terrified,” Rogers said.

Rogers revealed in “hindsight” she discovered the reason she wanted a baby was because she thought it would “make things better” in her marriage.

“Up until that point, when we were still together, being so desperate to have a baby and I can see it very clearly now that I was trying to fill an emotional void by having a baby.

“I thought okay well if the marriage hasn’t changed things then maybe it will be me being pregnant that will change it or something like that.

“I am very blessed I didn’t fall pregnant because adding a baby into the mix would have made things so much more complicated.”

Rogers confirmed her split from finance expert McKeone in October last year after only eight months of marriage.

Break-up rumours began swirling in September when Rogers’ followers noticed she reverted to her maiden name on Instagram and unpinned all photos from her February wedding.

She confirmed her split on Instagram on October 3.

“After 4.5 years together, Justin and I have come to the difficult decision to separate as a couple,” she wrote.

“I do not wish to make any further statements about this in the near future.

“Please respect our decision and privacy at this time. Thank you for all your private DMs, kindness and support.”
