David Speirs claims white powder video is ‘deepfake’

The ex-Liberal MP has since dismissed the footage as a deepfake, but a world-renowned digital forensic expert who examined the video found no evidence it had been faked or manipulated. Mr Speirs has not reported his deepfake allegation to police.

Police later raided the property in late September, with witnesses saying those investigating spent hours “taking photos from all angles inside and on the front balcony” on September 26.

Mr Speirs has since resigned from parliament is now facing charged he alleged supplied drugs in August. He has denied any wrongdoing, and vowed to defend the charges.

The Advertiser has been told his Kingston Park home went on the market after another luxury property located in a block of three townhouses could not fetch the asking price.

Mr Bishop said Mr Speirs first placed a neighbouring investment property on the market in September but withdrew the listing after the offers fell below Mr Speirs’ expectations.

The property received three offers, the highest being $1.67m, below the $1.7m asking price, he said.

Mr Speirs owns two of the three townhouses located in the block.

His home is currently expected to fetch around $1.41m in the higher range, with the property open for inspection by appointment.
