SA father-of-four Brayden Black remembered after ending life

The young father of four’s own father led tributes, saying he struggled to comprehend what had happened.

A father has recalled the moment he received the call his son had taken his own life, saying he felt like his heart had been “ripped out of (his) chest”.

Jason Black’s 26-year-old son Brayden David Black, a father-of-four himself, told his father he loved him and would see him soon the night before he died by suicide.

“Brayden gave me a big hug goodbye,” the 52-year-old father said.

“I couldn’t comprehend what had happened.”

Brayden, who died on November 23, had four young children Isabella, Amelia, Charlie Ray, and Liam.

“He was a fabulous father, a very doting father,” Mr Black said of his son.

“He loved to see his children. Brayden would do anything for all his children.

“He wanted nothing more than to get a good job so he could buy a house for his children.”

Prior to his death, Brayden had begun an apprenticeship as an electrician.

“All he ever wanted was to have his own family and children, to be a good father with his own house,” Mr Black said.

“He loved mechanical work,” Mr Black said.

“He loved to get any old car and restore them — he loved doing anything with his hands.

“(I’ll remember) his work ethic and achievements and capability to pick up something and learn so quickly.”

Brayden was born on November 8, 1998, he died on November 23, 2024, he was 26.

He is survived by his dad Jason Black, his mum, Donna Black, his brothers Adam and Cameron Black and his children, Isabella, Amelia, Charlie Ray and Liam.

“The whole family are absolutely devastated with the sudden loss of such a bubbly, bright, beautiful boy, who will be forever 26,” Mr Black said.

“Brayden will be missed and loved by all who met him.”
