‘I’ll be back soon, take care’: 21-year-old groom Anakhpal Singh suddenly dies three weeks after wedding

Aged just 21, Anakhpal Singh married the love of his life – but three weeks later he suddenly died, leaving his widow utterly devastated.

Anakhpal Singh was only 21 years old when he suddenly died just three weeks after marrying the love of his life.

The beloved son, brother and newlywed suffered from heart failure weeks after taking his vows earlier this month.

“He didn’t wake up in the morning,” his aunt, Sharanjit Kaur told The Advertiser.

“He passed away, silently, no noise, no shakes, nothing.”

The Prospect man had moved to Australia from India in September 2022 on a student visa and was the breadwinner for his family.

“He had responsibilities of his family, he had a younger brother — 18 years old — being the eldest he was mature enough to make family decisions and earn for them too,” Ms Kaur, 30, said.

Anakhpal had returned to Uttar Pradesh, India to marry his wife, Jot Kaur, when he suddenly died two days before he was due to return to Australia.

He was married on October 15.

“He and his wife all of sudden decided to get married,” Ms Kaur said.

“They wanted to live with each other, the girl was in love with him and she couldn’t wait and same goes with him — they had a beautiful marriage and he was enjoying each and every moment.

“He was coming back on November 15, the ticket was booked.”

Anakhpal had plans to move his soulmate to Australia eventually and start a life together but heartbreaking Anakhpal died on November 13.

Before leaving Australia to get married, Anakhpal hugged Ms Kaur’s son goodbye.

“(He) said ‘I’ll be back soon, take care’,” Ms Kaur said.

Ms Kaur said going for walks in the park with him and her son were memories she would hold onto forever.

“He was free, he loved going out, he loved buying shoes, he had so many shoes,” she said.

Anakhpal was born on June 15, 2003, he died on November 13, 2024, he was 21 years old.

He is survived by his wife Jot Kaur, mother Manpreet Kaur, father Baljeet Singh and brother Anmeek Singh.
